If you use it for the big race, listening in on police/fire, or anything this scanner gets, it will serve you well. But of course, your location will matter when it comes to reception. And carefully reading the instructions make it very easy to use. It is useful to me when I need a scanner along, but don't want a large scanner weighing down my belt.
