As the liquid solution exits the electrostatic sprayer, it’s given a negative electrical charge, then the droplets become attracted to all positive surfaces, covering the visible area, underside, and backside of surfaces. Surfaces that are already covered will repel the spray, making your spray work extremely efficient.

The nozzle supplies a negative charge to the droplets as it’s ejected from the spray gun. These charged molecules will then be attracted to any conductive surface they are applied to. As an example if we spray a metal door handle the charged liquid will wrap itself around the surface, front and back. Just like the pull of a magnet to a piece of metal, the droplets become more strongly attracted to the target as they approach it. 
Static electricity on the droplet is 75 times the force of gravity, the spray droplets literally reverse direction and move upwards against gravity when passing a target surface.  The remarkable phenomenon by which the spray coats the undersides and the backsides of the spray target is known as electrostatic “wrap around”.
