They are better than a lot of the other brands at keeping water in. I do add vinyl weather striping along the top edge to make sure there is no leaks which has kept the water in with no leaks. One downfall with these tubs if you are using for aeroponics is the latch. There are 2 holes that will leak where the latch is mounted to the tub on each side, these will have to be blocked and sealed to keep water from leaking. The top lid is perfect for 2” net cups due to the squares that are molded in the top, which makes spacing a breeze. I did happen to find the tubs with the black lids which does a much better job at keeping light out of the tote.
