Thorens TD 202 Turntable is a high-quality mid-level model sitting above the TD-201 and TD-203, it is ideal for those wanting a robust, simple to use manual plug and play turntable. Compared with its “smaller” brother TD 201 it comes with a more massive plinth and an AT95E cartridge. Phono Stage Using the switchable integrated phono stage the TD 201 can be directly connected to an external phono stage, amplifier or receiver even if it does not have a specific input for phono devices. Construction TD-202 features Thorens' conventional modern take on the 80's control knobs as presented on the TD 206 and 209 along with a square and black wooden box that is similar to the TD280. The rear panel of the turntable has a built-in pre-amp and RCA sockets for your own cable of choice. It also has an additional A/D converter with USB output for automatic digitisation and easy direct recording of vinyl albums to a computer using any type of downloadable recording software. Design Features This deck incorporates a plug-and-play design and is equipped with a smooth running belt drive, an aluminium platter with rubber mat as well as a new Thorens TP 71 tonearm with detachable headshell, the same as used by the TD-201 but it is preconfigured with an AT95E cartridge instead of the AT3600 cartridge that the lower model uses. About Thorens Thorens is a premium Swiss manufacturer of entry-level to high-end turntables. Thorens has a long-established history dating back as far 1883, their audiophile-grade well-crafted turntables added in the 1950s and the 1960s are still highly sought after today and regarded among the best turntables of their time.
